Culinary Adventure Awaits: Preparing for Cook Around The World with Disney’s Flower & Garden Festival
Our Cook Around The World event is officially only two weeks away! While this culinary event is filled with educational opportunities, culinary competitions, celebrity guests, culinary college representatives, and awards, there is still plenty of time to explore the magic of Walt Disney World®! The Flower & Garden Festival in Epcot® offers a unique and immersive opportunity for students participating in the Cook Around The World event to prepare for their culinary journey.
Cultural Exploration
The festival showcases gardens and exhibits inspired by countries from around the world. As students stroll through the themed areas, they can soak in the ambiance and aesthetic of each nation, gaining valuable insights into its culture, traditions, and culinary heritage. This firsthand exposure helps them understand the nuances of regional cuisines and the importance of cultural authenticity in their culinary creations.
Global Flavors
One of the highlights of the Flower & Garden Festival is the diverse array of culinary offerings available at the outdoor kitchens scattered throughout Epcot®. These food stands feature dishes inspired by cuisines from various countries, including those represented in the Cook Around The World competition (Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe). By sampling these international flavors, students can broaden their palate, refine their taste preferences, and gather inspiration for their own culinary creations.
Ingredient Exploration
Many of the dishes served at the festival incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from around the world. As students explore the different food offerings, they can familiarize themselves with unique ingredients, flavor combinations, and cooking techniques specific to each region. This hands-on experience with diverse ingredients enhances their culinary knowledge and equips them with the skills needed to craft authentic and flavorful dishes during the competition.
Creative Inspiration
The festival’s vibrant atmosphere and stunning displays of floral arrangements and topiaries provide a visually stimulating backdrop for creative inspiration. Students can draw inspiration from the colors, textures, and natural beauty surrounding them, translating these elements into innovative and visually appealing culinary creations. Whether it’s incorporating edible flowers into a dish or experimenting with artistic plating techniques, the festival sparks creativity and encourages students to think outside the box.
