What’s Cooking This April at Cook Around The World
Oh crepe! Cook Around The World (CATW) is only 5 weeks away! Turn up your burners, it’s time to prep for this year’s event.
What’s on the menu this April?
CATW allows high school students to compete in a hands-on culinary experience against other schools from around the world, learn from top colleges and universities about career options in the culinary and hospitality field, and receive one-on-one advice from our celebrity chef.
This year’s celebrity chef is Anne Burell, Anne is a professional chef, television personality, and former instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is currently a co-host of Worst Cooks in America, where they take “normal people” and turn them into kitchen experts. She previously hosted BBQ Brawl, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, Vegas Chef Prizefight, and Chef Wanted. Anne will give students tips during the competition & present her keynote speech at the end of the career forum.
We have judges from top culinary colleges in Florida and The American Culinary Federation. Chef Jason Fridrich from UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management (one of the finest hospitality schools in the US and ranked #5 among all hospitality schools worldwide), Chef Drew Lindsay from Escoffier (One of the top 10 culinary schools in the United States and ranked #1 culinary school in the world by Chef’s Pencil), and Chef Michael Triodle from The American Culinary Federation (ACF is the largest professional chefs’ organization in North America whose goal is promoting the professional image of American Chefs through education at all levels).
We provide our students with a professional chef coat and chef hat. Most of the uniform components will be provided, however, a list of necessary items to bring along will be sent out shortly. It is important to note that students must wear closed toes shoes while cooking.
Cooking is the main dish of this event, but don’t forget to pack your favorite Mickey ears! There will be plenty of free time to play in the parks!
